Artist Statement
It is my intention to create art… for myself. My feeling is that if I remain authentic to the energy I feel, and my vision of shapes, movement and texture – and my experiences, then it will be the right thing to put out into the world. Clay represents me best. I use slabs of various clay bodies: stoneware, terra cotta and porcelain… sometimes mixed together… or with an added coloring from underglazes or oxides. The pieces often hold impressions of natural materials or perhaps drawings or sculpted faces to achieve a piece that resonates with me. I hope you will feel the joy in seeing them that they brought me when they appeared to me in my hands.
